Casemiro, a Brazilian midfielder who was Ronaldo’s teammate at Real Madrid, has fallen out of favor under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Star, United is open to hearing offers for Casemiro, whose £300,000-per-week contract accounts for a sizable portion of the club’s wage bill.
Ronaldo feels that bringing one of the most decorated midfielders in Europe to Saudi would further raise the league’s profile.
Since the home loss to Newcastle in late December, the 32-year-old has not played. Amorim prefers midfielders Manuel Ugarte and captain Bruno Fernandes.
Additionally, Kobbie Mainoo has surpassed Casemiro in the hierarchy, and young Toby Collyer has been given greater opportunities.
Amorim questioned if Casemiro could fit into his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation after he was left out of the starting lineup against Rangers in the Europa League last Thursday, reports Mirror.
“He has to have the characteristics and then I have to choose the player with the characteristics on how I see the game,” Amorim said.
“It is just like that and I have to make some choices, I want to play a game that is sometimes different from other coaches and I have to choose based on that. That’s all.”
