Crolla set for farewell Urquiaga fight

Anthony Crolla has confirmed his farewell fight will be against Frank Urquiaga for the WBA continental lightweight title on November 2. The 32-year-old will return to the scene of his memorable WBA lightweight title win against Darleys Perez on home soil at the Manchester Arena in November 2015 for his swansong bout. Crolla remained the world champion for just under a year before he lost his belt to Jorge Linares in September 2016, and was then defeated on points in their rematch the following March. ‘Million Dollar’ defeated fellow Brit Ricky Burns in Manchester in October 2017 and has since beaten Edson Ramirez and Daud Yordan. His most recent fight was a fourth-round knockout defeat against pound-for-pound star Vasiliy Lomachenko for the WBA and WBO titles in Los Angeles in April. And Crolla will now use his bout against Urquiaga as a chance to thank his fans before he hangs up his gloves. He told Sky Sports: “This is it, the final one. I’ve had so many great nights at the arena down the years, so I’m pleased to be finishing where it all started. “Urquiaga knows this is his golden chance, a win against me and he throws his name further into the mix. I can’t let the emotions get to me, I’ve got a job to do first and foremost – I want to bow out with a win. “The support and atmosphere has always been special at the arena, I’m forever thankful. I’m determined to put on a show for one last time.”
