Crystal Palace have confirmed James Tomkins and Christian Benteke have both signed new deals at Selhurst Park. The duo have both been heavily involved in recent campaigns and have been rewarded with new terms.
Benteke, who joined the club in 2016 from Liverpool, has signed a new deal until the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Belgium international has scored 19 goals in 89 appearances but he has failed to net so far this season for Roy Hodgson’s men.
Palace have tried to throw their support behind him by securing his future, while they have shown even more commitment to defender Tomkins.
The former West Ham United ace is now in his fourth season as an Eagle after joining during the summer of 2016.
Tomkins has been given a deal until the end of the 2021/22 campaign after making 87 appearances since moving to Selhurst Park.
Chairman Steve Parish believes both players deserve special praise for their contribution and he expects them both to kick on for the remainder of the campaign.
Parish said: “I’m pleased that agreements have been reached with these two important senior players. Both James and Christian bring vast Premier League experience, commitment and professionalism to the squad. “These new deals show that we recognise their levels of performance in recent seasons, that we believe in both players, and that they are hugely motivated by the direction the club is heading.”
Palace are currently sixth in the Premier League table after a superb start. They have lost just one of their last six matches and can make it four unbeaten when they take on champions Manchester City on Saturday.
While they lost their last meeting on home soil, Palace will fancy their chances after beating City at the Etihad in December 2018.
