Curtis Jones: I’m Ready To Contribute Significantly To Liverpool

After an injury-plagued testing season last year, he has been gaining experience and is having his best goal-scoring season to date.

According to Irish examiner, Curtis Jones, a midfielder for Liverpool, feels that his “time has come” to contribute significantly to the team.

Although Jones, who turned 23 on Tuesday, made his senior debut in January 2019, it wasn’t until the following season that he truly broke through.

After a difficult season due to injury last year, he has been gaining experience since then and is currently having his best goal-scoring season. He increased his tally to five goals last weekend in the FA Cup victory over Norwich.

Jones, an academy graduate from Toxteth, proved that manager Jurgen Klopp’s faith in him has not wavered as they defeated Chelsea 4-1 to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points.

“I think I’m enjoying it the most right now,” Jones said to TNT Sports.

“I would say that it has been up and down the entire time because of my injuries and other issues. It’s my first time joining the team, and I’m having fun. I’m playing freely, I’m assisting the team, and I’m happy.

When I was seventeen, I joined the team. It wasn’t an easy thing to do, but Klopp kept calling and we had conversations. He would say, “Your time will come,” all the time.

“I’m taking a chance because I’ve reached the point where my time has come. My game needed a lot of adaptation. I’ve already done that.

Due to Wataru Endo’s absence from the Asian Cup and the injuries to Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, midfield resources have frequently been stretched, making Jones’ contribution especially crucial this season.

Despite surviving January without incident, the team is still vying for four trophies, and Jones thinks they were primed for greatness following a summer midfield makeover, even before rumors of Klopp’s impending exit spread.

“The team has got this buzz about us. It’s a new team, it’s a young team, it’s a fresh team,” he added.

“Of course there’s been a change in terms of how we play and the lads that have come in.

“Normally it takes a bit of time to adapt but the lads have just adapted quickly, they’ve come in, played their part.

“It’s just not individuals, like Mo (Salah) scoring all the goals. The likes of me are going to help, Dom’s going to help, Conor (Bradley) is going to help, Trent (Alexander-Arnold) as always. It’s passing through the whole of the team.”

The Liverpool players’ focus was undoubtedly diverted by Klopp’s announcement of his resignation, and the manager is thrilled with that, as evidenced by their crushing of Chelsea.

“We can expect certain attitudes; attitude is not a problem. Culture shapes an individual’s attitude. The German said, “The crowd creates attitude.”

Almost every member of the team contributes to the team’s attitude. This team will not let attitude be a problem.
