David de Gea has reportedly turned down Manchester United’s latest contract offer, with the goalkeeper unwilling to accept a huge reduction on his current salary.
The 31-year-old is the club’s highest-paid player, earning £375,000 a week, but his contract is set to expire at the end of June, prompting a flurry of conjecture over his future at Old Trafford.
De Gea has voiced his desire to stay at Manchester United on numerous occasions, and the club are believed to be keen to keep him despite recent speculation that a new number one could be recruited this summer.
The Spaniard has been a key performer for the Red Devils this season, appearing on 42 times in all competitions and keeping 18 clean sheets.

De Gea joined Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in July 2011, and he has now played 529 times for the 20-time English champions.
