Chelsea defender David Luiz insists that Antonio Conte is one of the best managers that he has ever worked with.
The centre-back has produced some inspired performances since re-joining Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain and has certainly benefited from Conte’s guidance.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Luiz said: “Conte is a coach who loves what he does and it infects all of us who love football.
“Every training and every game is a manifestation of how winning and competing is important to him, so for us the motivation to keep focus is always high.
“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever worked with. He knows very well the characteristics of each player and we follow exactly what he guides us to do on the pitch.”
An impressive reader of the game, Luiz has averaged seven defensive actions per game in the Premier League this season, though his pass accuracy of 84% is the poorest of Chelsea’s centre-backs.
Although Chelsea were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur last week, Conte’s side remain favourites to win the title and are top of the Premier League, five points ahead of closest challengers Liverpool.
The Blues, who returned to winning ways at the weekend as they prevailed past Peterborough United in the FA Cup, face Leicester City away on Saturday in their next Premier League fixture.
Chelsea announced at the weekend that they have exercised their option to recall defender Nathan Ake from his loan spell at Bournemouth, potentially providing some competition for Luiz.
