De Gea starts for Spain against Czech Republic despite sex scandal

David De Gea starts for Spain in their Euro 2016 opener with Czech Republic.

The Manchester United goalkeeper became embroiled in a sex scandal on the eve of the competition which looked set to cost him his place.

De Gea has publicly declared his innocence following claims that a woman was forced to take part in a sex party he arranged for two Spanish Under-21 players.

Reports over the weekend suggested Vicente del Bosque would turn to veteran stopper Iker Casillas for the Group D encounter.

But United stopper De Gea was named in Spain’s line-up for the clash in Toulouse.

Del Bosque has selected a very experienced line-up as Cesc Fabregas and David Silva both start, with the Manchester City man winning his 100th cap.

Barcelona’s Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta also feature.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech starts for Czech Republic, as does Tomas Rosicky.
