De Gea Takes Responsibility For Man Utd’s Defeat

Following Manchester United’s humbling 4-0 loss to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, David De Gea has assumed responsibility.

The first two goals the Bees scored at the Gtech Community Stadium inside 18 minutes of the game  were both the fault of the Spanish goalkeeper.

Josh Dasilva scored the game’s first goal when David De Gea allowed the Brentford player’s soft shot to slip under his body at his near post.

A few minutes later, from a goal kick, he put Christian Eriksen in danger, and Mathias Jensen eventually snatched the ball away from the Danish midfielder before putting the ball into the back of the net.

How Did De Gea React To His Mistakes?

David De Gea accepted responsibility after Manchester United’s defeat. After the game, the Manchester United goalkeeper asked to appear in front of the Sky Sports cameras to take full responsibility for the defeat.

“I think I cost my team three points today. It was a poor performance from myself,” said De Gea.

“After the first mistake and then the second, it was very tough to be playing and it was a horrible day.

“Of course, we should react better but the moment we are living now is tough, every time we concede a goal.

“I should’ve saved the first shot and probably the result would be different. I [should] have to read it better and kick it long. But, of course, we always try to play. But today they pressed hard and I should’ve read it better.”

Does De Gea Believe They Can Turn The Bad Situation Around?

The Red Devils are currently last in the standings after losing their first two games of the 2022–23 season, and their next game against Liverpool is on August 22 at Old Trafford.

When asked how the squad could escape their current crisis, De Gea was puzzled; however, he did say that everyone needed to stick together during these trying times.
