Stefan de Vrij says he is happy with how things are currently going at Inter Milan but insists his team must not get carried away. Inter have had a fine start to life under Antonio Conte and they currently lie top of the table with 25 points after ten games, though they have played once more than Juventus who are second on 23 points.
The former Chelsea boss has worked his three-man defence to perfection and the Nerrazzuri look like they can finally break the Old Lady’s stranglehold on the Serie A title having won it for the past eight seasons.
They have also had a respectable start to the Champions League group stage having picked up four points from three games – though their 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund last week could prove to be an important step in qualifying for the round of 16.
Goals from Lautaro Martinez and big-money summer acquisition Romelu Lukaku were enough to send them temporarily top of the table after Tuesday night’s 2-1 triumph away at Brescia.
And, on the back of the win, Dutch international De Vrij says there is a good feeling around the camp and they are embracing their busy schedule. “We are happy, we want to stay as high as possible in the standings but we must not look too far ahead, we must think about the next game,” he explained. “Are we tired? Personally, I feel good. It is true that we are playing many games at the moment, one every three days, but if we rest in the right way it is also nice to play so many games at this pace.”
