Debate raging inside Barcelona over Depay pursuit

Debate is raging inside Barcelona over coach Ronald Koeman’s pursuit of Lyon striker Memphis Depay.

Koeman wants to bring the Holland attacker to Barca for the new season.

But Mundo Deportivo says several Barca coaches and directors have concerns over the potential arrival of Depay and his effect on Ansu Fati’s progress.

There’s a concern that Depay would stunt Fati’s development given they will be competing in the same position.

With the presence of Lionel Messi, Antonie Griezmann, Ousmane Dembélé, Martin Braithwaite and newcomer Francisco Trincão, there is already major competition for Fati in Barca’s attack.

And Depay’s arrival, on recommendation of Koeman, would only make things even more difficult for the teen.
