Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has shed light on the status of Lamine Yamal’s contract extension. On Movistar, he was questioned about a dinner meeting held in Lisbon on Tuesday night.
The gathering comprised club president Joan Laporta, Jorge Mendes, and numerous members of his team, and the conversations took place at an Asian restaurant.
Yamal is now under contract with Barcelona until 2026, but he has already committed to a new agreement that would keep him at the club until 2030.

However, this agreement still requires a formal extension to be included in the contract.
Deco made it plain that Barcelona is still the best place for Lamine Yamal. The youthful forward has progressed through the club’s system, enjoys playing for the team, and is content with his circumstances.
The club’s objective is to guarantee that he continues to advance in the proper path, and when the time comes, the renewal will be officially handled. Reported By barcauniversal.
“If I were Lamine, there would be no better place to be than Barcelona. He’s a child that grew up at the club, appreciates it, is happy, and content.
“I believe what matters is that he continues in this manner, as do we. That is why I believe his renewal and personal contract concerns will be addressed at the appropriate moment,” stated the sporting director.
The dinner with Jorge Mendes generated concerns regarding Yamal’s future, but Deco downplayed the relevance.
“It is a dinner with a host like Jorge Mendes but it was nothing more, we are not going to talk about a player at a table with twenty people.”
