Defender Set To Miss Majority Of Season After Horrific Injury In Huge Clash

After tearing knee ligaments during Aston Villa’s opening-day loss to Newcastle, defender Tyrone Mings will likely spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

The English defender was taken off on a stretcher in the first half. Villa are worried that the injury was serious on Saturday night, and according to Daily Mail, Mings is set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

With Mings, one of Unai Emery’s key players, now expected to miss a significant portion of the campaign, their worries have been realized.

It was the second significant knee injury suffered by a Villa player in recent days. Just late last week, midfielder Emiliano Buendia also suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during training.

Diego Carlos, Pau Torres, and Calum Chambers will provide back-up in Mings’ absence. But the Villians will miss his leadership very much.

The 30-year-old continues to be one of the most vocal and important members of the Villa team. Despite having his captaincy removed by former manager Steven Gerrard a year ago.

It was evident that the players were affected by Mings’ injury, which first appeared serious. As Villa lost at St James’ Park in the second half. Without him, John McGinn and Emiliano Martinez the goalie, will take on even more significant roles.

The Midlands club is still looking for a left-sided midfielder with Buendia out. They thought about pushing for Jack Harrison but eventually opted against it. As a result, the winger is presently on loan at Everton from Leeds.

Although the specifics of the agreement with Galatasaray have not yet been determined, Villa are also interested in Italian forward Nicolo Zaniolo.
