Alessandro Del Piero hopes Leicester City will win the Premier League this season so he can one day tell his grandchildren about their incredible triumph.
The Foxes sit seven points clear at the top of the table with just three games left to play, meaning they need three more points to secure the title.
They could be crowned champions at Old Trafford on Sunday when they travel to play Louis van Gaal’s in-form Manchester United.
And Juventus legend Del Piero is rooting for the Foxes in the title race as he hopes to tell his grandchildren about their incredible achievements one day.
“Leicester are ever closer to the Premier League title,” the World Cup winner told Sky Evening News.
“I really hope it ends the way we all hope it will, because this really is something to tell our grandchildren, it shows that nothing is impossible in sport.”
Leicester were facing certain relegation with around eight games to go in the Premier League last season and now they find themselves on the cusp of something truly special.
Claudio Ranieri has been universally praised for his ability to create a well-balanced, functional team without spending large amounts of money like the Premier League’s elite – Chelsea, Manchester United and City.
Furthermore, the Foxes had four players named in the PFA Team of the Year – defender Wes Morgan, midfielder N’Golo Kante, winger Ryhad Mahrez and striker Jamie Vardy – to emphasis their achievement this term.
