Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele is reportedly set to agree personal terms on a £90million transfer to Barcelona despite recent interest from Arsenal.
The France international is one of the most highly rated young players in world football at the moment, and has been identified as Barca’s top target to replace Neymar after his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Catalan giants have plenty to spend after PSG triggered Neymar’s £199m release clause at the Nou Camp, in a move that made him the most expensive footballer of all time.
Dembele now looks set to become the second most costly signing ever as L’Equipe report he’ll cost at least £90m to prise away from Dortmund this summer.
The two clubs are yet to negotiate with each other directly, but Barcelona look to be getting the go-ahead to complete the move after talking with Dembele.
The 20-year-old has previously stated his dream is to play for Los Cules, with team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hinting at a move by retweeting an old interview with the player admitting as such last night.
Arsenal were reported as having a bid rejected for the youngster this week, though it’s not clear how far off the Gunners were from Dortmund’s £90m valuation of the player.
Arsene Wenger’s side are keen to sign one more attacking player this summer, with Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez also previously mentioned as options.
Dembele, however, is now surely nearing a move to Barcelona as they look to quickly recover from losing such a vital part of their attack in the form of Neymar.
Real Madrid are also still hoping they can pounce for Dembele, but it is thought that his preferred destination is the Nou Camp over the Bernabeu.
