Depay not thinking about Lyon exit

Lyon forward Memphis Depay has played down talk of a potential exit and insists he is focussed on enjoying a “strong season”. Depay, who will be in action for the Netherlands in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Estonia over the next week, has been heavily linked with a move to England over recent days.
Tottenham are understood to be very keen on doing a deal in January but Manchester United will have first refusal if he does leave Les Gones.
The Red Devils inserted a clause into Depay’s deal upon his switch to Lyon in January 2017 which means they must be informed if someone makes an official bid.
It’s claimed that Spurs are willing to hand over £50million to bring in the talisman after some impressive displays in France.
He hit 12 goals across all competitions last season and has already bagged 11 times in 14 appearances this term.
Spurs could certainly do with some extra attacking options and Depay seems to fit the bill for Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the former PSV ace has addressed the recent rumours and insists his mind is solely on giving everything for Lyon. “I don’t want to talk about that. I don’t want to talk about rumours that I know nothing about,” Depay said. “We leave it in the corridors. I am focused on a strong season so far.”
Depay’s previous spell in England will be one he wants to erase from his memory after he struggled to settle at United.
Louis van Gaal signed him from PSV, beating Arsenal to his signature, for £25million but he scored just seven times in 53 appearances.
