Diego Simeone is reportedly about to make his stunning exit from Atletico Madrid and is expected to make a spectacular move to the Premier League.
Simeone, who joined the team in 2011, has had outstanding success with Atletico despite Barcelona and Real Madrid dominating Spanish football.
The Atletico manager won the Spanish first division trophy twice, breaking the tie between Barcelona and Madrid for the title. Simeone has also lifted two Europa League titles and the Copa del Rey with Atletico, as well as leading his side to two Champions League finals.
However, Atletico have been underwhelming under Simeone this season and languish fifth in the league table, with the club one point behind Real Betis.
A La Liga title challenge is effectively out of the picture for Atletico, too, with Simeone’s men left a whopping 14 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
Spanish TV show El Chiringuito now reports that Simeone, who is under contract until 2024, has ‘made up his mind’ about his future with Atletico.
The Atletico manager has reportedly spoken with the club’s hierarchy about his desire to leave the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer.
