Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, maintains that Julian Alvarez’s penalty against Real Madrid ought to have been allowed.

After Atletico defeated their local rivals 1-0 in the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 match, Alvarez scored the team’s second penalty in a thrilling shootout, bringing the final score to 2-2 overall.
The ball flew high into the net despite the former Manchester City striker slipping during his effort.
However, a VAR check was made before Federico Valverde of Real Madrid could take the subsequent penalty.
The penalty was declared a miss by Polish video assistant referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski, who determined that Alvarez’s standing foot had made contact with the ball prior to his shot.
The visiting team, led by Carlo Ancelotti, took advantage of the situation and won the shootout 4-2, reports Mirror.
The referee says Julian touches the ball with his supporting leg, but the ball doesn’t move,” Simeone said in his post-match press conference, expressing skepticism about the ruling.
Journalists present were then instructed by Simeone to raise their hands if they witnessed Julian touching them twice. Will someone put up their hand? Not a single hand has been raised.
