Digne confident Gomes will recover

Everton defender Lucas Digne has full belief that Andre Gomes will recover following a horrific injury against Tottenham on Sunday. The Portuguese midfielder was injured under a challenge from Son Heung-min as he fell into the path of Serge Aurier and suffered a fracture-dislocation to his right ankle.
Everyone on the field was clearly visibly distressed as Gomes received treatment and Son was sent off in the process.
Gomes has since been discharged from hospital after undergoing surgery on the injury and he will now enter a period of rehabilitation.
Everton commented that the surgery went “extremely well” though there is no timescale as of yet on his return.
Digne, who has known Gomes for some time as the pair were also team-mates at Barcelona, says he is confident Gomes will come back a stronger player following the injury. “We are with him and we are always together,” Digne told evertontv. “He is an unbelievable player and an unbelievable man. “I am not worried about his mentality and I am sure he will come back stronger. I know he will come back stronger. He has been playing so well over the past year. He is a big player for us. A great player.”
Gomes had endured a stop-start season for Everton prior to Sunday’s injury and had played eight times in the Premier League.
He missed the majority of September after suffering an injury returned for the Toffees 1-0 defeat away at Burnley.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and impressed the Everton faithful.
He scored once in 27 Premier League appearances and did enough to earn a permanent deal.
Everton paid Barcelona £22million for his service and he penned a five-year contract in June.
The Toffees will now have find another solution in midfield and have a lack of options to play in that position.
Tom Davies has returned to the side in recent weeks but Jean-Philippe Gbamin is out injured long-term.
