Borussia Dortmund have dismissed reports suggesting they are looking to replace coach Lucien Favre with Jose Mourinho. There have been suggestions Favre’s position as manager of BVB is under threat following an indifferent start to the new season and the powers-that-be could look to replace him sooner rather than later.
Mourinho’s name has been mentioned as he looks to make a return to management at some point following his departure from Manchester United earlier in the year, but it looks to be a non-starter.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has reacted to all the rumours by insisting he still has every faith in Favre and will not be making any attempt to lure Mourinho.
Rumours had claimed Dortmund held talks with Mourinho although they appear wide of the mark and Zorc is pleased to have Favre still at the helm – for now at least.
Zorc told Sky Sports News: “We are not having a coach discussion and are happy to have Lucien Favre. These rumours around Mourinho lack any substance.”
Mourinho has coached in all the top leagues in Europe apart from the Bundesliga and it is thought he would like to do so at some point.
The Portuguese has also been linked with the Bayern Munich job should Niko Kovac get the axe in the future, while Real Madrid and Tottenham could soon have vacancies.
Mourinho is waiting for the right position but, for now, Dortmund are not interested.
