Borussia Dortmund are reported to be weighing up a swoop for AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez when the January transfer window opens. Dortmund are reportedly in the hunt for a new left-back and Rodriguez has emerged as a target after slipping out of favour with the Rossoneri.
The 27-year-old has amassed 89 appearances for the Italian giants since joining them at the start of the 2017/18 campaign but he has struggled for starts this season.
The defender has made just four appearances for Milan and that has kicked off reports in the Italian press suggesting he will look to move on in search of more regular action.
The Switzerland international has already had one spell in the Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg, and that is when he caught the eye of Milan with some impressive performances.
BVB could now offer him the chance to return to Germany and he may jump at the chance if a deal can be agreed between the two clubs.
Rodriguez has just under two years remaining on his current contract at the San Siro and so Milan will be keen to cash in soon or run the risk of him running it down and leaving for nothing.
Milan also need to consider player sales to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and that puts Dortmund in a good position if they attempt to hammer out a deal.
Rodriguez wants to go to Euro 2020 with the Swiss next summer, another reason to get away from Milan and play more football.
