Former France international Christophe Duggary has reiterated his belief that Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t a world class player.
Ibrahimovic has won the league title in four different countries, but Dugarry believes that the Swede is too individualistic to be categorised as an elite performer.
As reported by goal, Dugarry said: “For me, Zlatan isn’t a great player. I’ve said it over 200 million times. Because for me, with very great players, you never have problems and they make others better.
“Who could say that Messi would leave a bit of room to Neymar and [Luis] Suarez? And yet, he does.”
Ibrahimovic has scored six goals in eleven Premier League games for United this season but the club’s form will have to improve significantly if they are to win the title this season, with Jose Mourinho’s side having struggled for consistency.
Dugarry’s criticism of Ibrahimovic is perhaps a little harsh- the United player, after all, scored the same amount of goals- 62 – for Sweden as Dugarry mustered across all the league games he played throughout his entire career.
United will have to cope without the services of Ibrahimovic when they face Arsenal at home on Saturday afternoon, with the forward ruled out of the game through suspension.
In his absence there is a possibility that Marcus Rashford, who tormented the Gunners on his Premier League debut in the corresponding fixture last season, could be deployed up front.
