Dyche wants McNeil to receive more credit

Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes teenager Dwight McNeil deserves to receive as much credit as some of the other young talents in the Premier League. McNeil has established himself as one of the first names on the Burnley team-sheet since breaking into the first team towards the end of last year.
He has started the Clarets’ last 29 Premier League games on the spin, while also representing England at Under-20 and Under-21 level.
The winger does not turn 20 until next month and looks set for a bright future at the highest level. Dyche believes he deserves a lot more praise than he’s been getting, especially considering how much attention some of the other youngsters in the division have been receiving. “I hear those stories about other young men rolling around the Premier League, he doesn’t get a mention very often, but he is right up there for me,” Dyche was quoted as saying by the Burnley Express. “I like all young talents. I think we all do, it is refreshing to see these young players coming through the Premier League and doing well. “They (Chelsea) have a few themselves, a bit more long in the tooth somewhat than Dwight.”
McNeil grabbed his first goal of the season during Burnley’s 4-2 home defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend, a match where he showcased that he is capable of mixing it with some of the best in the division.
The 19-year-old has contributed four goals and eight assists in his 32 top-flight appearances for the Clarets since being handed his league debut against Bournemouth in May 2018.
The youngster is currently keeping more experienced players such as Robbie Brady and Aaron Lennon out of the Burnley team given the consistent nature of his performances so far this season.
