€40m-Rated Ace With Six Goals In 19 Games Is Chelsea’s Plan B

For teams like Chelsea and its Premier League opponents, minds will already be shifting to the summer transfer market as the January window draws to a close.

The West London team is still in ninth place and 12 points shy of a Champions League finish, after having once again underperformed this season despite a minor improvement in their records.

When Todd Boehly and his board gave Mauricio Pochettino the reins as manager, a top-four finish was undoubtedly the minimum they expected. But, with so many new players at Stamford Bridge, it would take time to integrate Pochettino’s style of game.

Boehly should at least provide the Argentine with a team that can succeed in the summer, even though it’s unclear if the American owner will allow the manager the time he needs to turn the first team into a winning unit.

Jonathan David of Lille is one player who the Premier League team is reportedly considering.

The Sun (via Fichajes) claims that the Blues may even attempt to sign the player during the current transfer window, although he is still Chelsea backup option in case they lose out on Napoli’s star player, Victor Osimhen.

David understands where the goal is, having scored six goals in 19 Ligue Un games, according to WhoScored. However, his price of €40 million would seem to imply that he is not quite in Osimhen’s league.
