Eagles linked with Morelos swoop

Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a move to sign Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in the January transfer window. Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has made no secret of the fact he is in the market for a new striker, with Palace struggling in front of goal despite their solid start to the Premier League season.
The south Londoners sit sixth in the table, with 14 points from nine games played, but have scored just eight goals to date, relying on a strong defence to keep them in games.
Morelos, capped five times by Colombia, seems to be the man in the frame although it is open to debate as to whether Gers boss Steven Gerard would allow him to move midway through a campaign in which the Glasgow giants are challenging for the Scottish title and playing in the Europa League.
Much might depend on how they are shaping up at the turn of the year, but Hodgson seems keen on the South American, with reports in the Scottish Sun that Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman watched him play against Hearts.
Morelos has been on top form for the Light Blues this term, especially in Europe, bagging nine Europa League goals already, while he has hit the back of the net six times in the league.
He does come with baggage, however, as the fiery forward was sent off four times in 2018-2019, reacting to provocation to see red on a few occasions.
He has been much better so far this season, with just one yellow card in the Scottish Premiership, while picking up four in the Europa.
The south Londoners may have competition from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, with reports that Dean Smith is also considering the hitman for his new year shopping list.
Morelos would not come cheap, especially in the winter window, and it is thought Rangers would demand in excess of £20m for the striker.
