Eden Hazard has effectively ruled out a return to Chelsea, admitting he doesn’t understand why there is always talk of him coming to Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian international is gearing up for the Qatar World Cup but has taken the time to discuss matters at club level, insisting he will leave Real Madrid in the summer if that is what the La Liga giants wish.
Hazard has struggled desperately to try and recapture the form that made him so lethal in west London while in the Spanish capital.
The 31-year-old has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since the summer of 2019 and yet is still lacking when it comes to standout moments in the iconic white strip of Real Madrid.
In turn, this has sent the rumour mill into overdrive that Hazard’s time at the club could be coming to an end as manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly weighing up the idea of cashing in on the former Lille man.
What Eden Hazard Said
The forward has since addressed those claims for the first time. “In January it is impossible [leaving the club], because I have family and I like the city,” Hazard told Marca.
“But in summer it is possible that I go. I have one more year on my contract and it’s the club’s decision.
“If the club tells me ‘Eden, thanks for four years, but you have to go’, I have to accept it because it’s normal. But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player.
“If Real Madrid tells me in the summer that I have to leave, I will accept it.”

In the same discussion, Hazard also touched on persistent rumours that link him with a return to west London to ply his trade for Chelsea once again.
“Chelsea? I was never close to returning or to leave Real Madrid in general. Chelsea have never called me,” he admitted while discussing the last transfer window.
Hazard went one further and even questioned why he would even be linked with his former side of six years in the process.
“Why there are always Chelsea links? No idea, honestly.”
