Egypt manager, Rui Vitoria has revealed that it is too early to confirm if Mohamed Salah’s injury will be a big problem after he was substituted off in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
After going down and receiving treatment on the field, the Liverpool forward was taken off before halftime in Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana.
During an Egypt counter-attack, Salah burst forward and went down to the ground, signaling to the bench that he would not be able to carry on.
In the end, Egypt had to settle for a draw without their star player. Since they needed to win to keep their hopes of making it to the knockout stages.
Monday night’s Pharaohs game against Cape Verde is the last game in the group stage. But it’s unclear if Salah will play.
As he trudged off the field, he was seen clutching the back of his left thigh. Some Ghana fans were cheering him on as he went through the tunnel.
What Did The Egypt Boss Say About Salah’s Injury?
According to the Daily Express, following the game, Vitoria stated that Salah’s injury was not likely to be considered “dangerous.” But he acknowledged that he was unsure of the full scope of the issue.
“I hope not [a big problem],” said Vitoria.
“We don’t know yet what the problem is. I hope it’s not a big problem but it was a problem in the first half. It was difficult timing for us because in the second half, we could only make two substitutions.
“But now, I don’t know. It’s early to see something. I think it’s not dangerous but let’s see if Salah recovers.”
