Elon Musk would be breaking a golden rule if he opt to purchase Liverpool rather than Manchester United.
Errol, the father of the tech billionaire, has made an astonishing claim that his son is interested in buying the Anfield club, which has been owned by the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) since 2010. Although FSG has previously sought outside financing, a full sale is not now in the cards.
According to The Mirror, Errol Musk nevertheless disclosed that Elon has his sights set on events in the red side of Merseyside.
In an interview with Times Radio, Errol said: “I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price.”

When pressed on whether Elon would want to buy Liverpool, he added: “Oh, yes. But that doesn’t mean he’s buying it. He would like to, yes, obviously. Anybody would want to – so would I.”
But the relationship didn’t extend to Elon’s love of football because he grew up rooting for United, Liverpool’s fiercest rivals.
He said on Twitter before he purchased the social media site and changed its name to X that the Red Devils were his club, after joking in August 2022 that he was “buying” them from the Glazer family.
He posted: “If it were any team, it would be Man U. They were my fav team as a kid.”
