Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has confirmed the club are still eager to sign another striker this month to bring competition for Edinson Cavani.
PSG, having lost Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United in the summer, have spent the season so far with just one senior out-and-out striker in Cavani.
The Uruguayan has been in excellent form with Cavani the current leading scorer in Europe’s top five leagues this season with 17 goals, but the French giants still want to bring in another attacker before the end of January.
Director of football Patrick Kluivert announced earlier this month that PSG wanted to make one more signing, and now Emery has echoed those sentiments that he wants to sign a quality striker.
The former Sevilla coach explained that he is looking for a forward good enough to provide suitable competition for Cavani in a bid to make both players even better in the future.
Emery said, according to Goal: “My words don’t change. The club has said the same. If the market offers us a player who can improve us, we’re open to it.
“You need competition, two players per position. The performances grow with competition. We’re still looking.”
