Emile Smith Rowe Nearing Arsenal Exit As Mikel Arteta Speaks Amid £35m Fulham Deal

Fulham are closing in on a £35 million agreement to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

Smith Rowe was left out of Arsenal’s friendly win against Bournemouth in Los Angeles, and the 23-year-old is now expected to complete his move to Craven Cottage. Reported by daily mail.

Talks between the two clubs are advanced, and Smith Rowe is expected to leave the Arsenal squad in America to discuss personal terms with Fulham and undergo a medical.

“There are things going on in the background, and we decided the best thing to do was keep him out of the game today,” said Mikel Arteta after Arsenal defeated Bournemouth on penalties following a 1-1 draw in their first pre-season game.

Fulham are set to sign Smith Rowe for a club-record fee of £27 million, surpassing the £27 million paid for Jean Michel Seri in 2018. Crystal Palace was also interested in Smith Rowe, but Fulham appear to have won the race to sign the midfielder.

Smith Rowe hopes a move away from Arsenal will help kickstart his career after a difficult two years in which he has struggled for form and fitness.

Calafiori has agreed to a five-year contract and is scheduled to pass a medical before joining Arsenal on their US tour.

Smith Rowe isn’t the only academy graduate who might depart Arsenal this summer; Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are also receiving interest.

Nelson is a West Ham target who has also been connected with Leicester, and Nketiah is desired by Marseille.

Both players started for Arsenal overnight, with Nketiah captaining the team.
