Argentina has a potential of winning their third World Cup in Qatar, and Emi Martinez was aware of this as soon as Aston Villa defeated Brighton more than a month ago.
Before jetting out with La Albiceleste, the goalkeeper spoke with media inside the Amex Stadium and stated: “We have got the best player in the world so, obviously, we always have a chance!
“We’re unbeaten in 35 games. We go there with confidence, with two titles in the bag. We’re confident. I’m going there to win.”
Martinez is now just 90 minutes away from becoming a World Cup winner with Argentina taking on the winners of tonight’s semi-final between France and Morocco.

What Emiliano Martinez Said
Speaking after last night’s semi-final triumph over Croatia, Martinez said of Argentina’s hopes: “We feel the crowd on the streets every time we play, we feel like we are at home.
“We are so happy to have them. I can’t believe we lost the first game all of sudden everything was upside down and we lost the 36-game unbeaten run.
“Mexico, the first half was a bit sloppy, everyone wanted us to lose, everyone wanted us to lose.
“We’re all fighters and we’ve got 45 million Argentineans all behind us. There’s 40,000, 50,000 Argentinians in every ground. We’re so happy to have them.”

Martinez’s teammate and superstar Lionel Messi was in fine fettle last night but did pull up with what looked to be an injury during the game – only to run it off and lead Argentina on their way to the final.
Martinez, meanwhile, played down those injury claims, and said: “No, no, obviously we played 120 minutes against Holland in the quarter-finals.
“It was a hard game for him, but you can see he wants to finish every game. Physically he’s really good and you can see, man of the match every game.”
