England collapse against Black Caps

New Zealand have taken a 2-1 lead over England after Eoin Morgan’s men collapsed in the third Twenty20 international. After reducing the Black Caps to 180-7 off their 20 overs, England looked to be in control and on their way to victory as they sat on 139-2. However a dramatic collapse saw them reduced to 149-7, before they managed another 17 runs, but still fell 14 short, allowing New Zealand to edge in front in the five-match series. Dawid Malan top scored with 55, while James Vince made 49, but after they were dismissed, England fell away in dramatic fashion Speaking after the defeat, Morgan admitted the game slipped through England’s fingers. “I think that’s one that got away from us,” he said. “I thought we were in control in the whole chase before we went three or four down. “The lack of experience may have cost us. It’s great how competitive the series is so far and integrating everyone into the squad, but we feel that’s one that got away. “The game plan remains the same – everything we do is about positive, smart, aggressive cricket. There are a lot of positives to take away but it’s a must-win game in Napier.”
