England Make Decision On Southgate Future Ahead Euro 2024 Final

England are reportedly keen to allow Gareth Southgate remain as the head coach irrespective of the Three Lions’ result against Spain in the 2024 European Championship final on Sunday.

England have battled their way into their first-ever major tournament final on foreign soil, despite a string of lackluster performances.

Naturally, Southgate will be driven to improve on the terrible penalty-filled loss England suffered at Wembley three years ago to Italy.

In Berlin, Spain are expected to start off as the obvious favorites, but England’s ability to bounce back will probably help them.

According to The Metro, the Football Association, who has faced harsh criticism in the early stages of the competition, has remained steadfast in its opinion that Southgate is the best person to lead the national team moving forward.

The 53-year-old’s current contract ends at the end of the year, and discussions on a possible extension had been scheduled.

Although Southgate has kept his plans under wraps, he has gained leverage from another outstanding competition. And his employers are eager to have him on board for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Before his future is decided, Southgate’s whole attention will be on defeating Spain, a team that have swept all before them en route to the final.

“They would be rightly favourites for what they have done this tournament,” the England boss said. ‘They have been the best team.
