Joe Denly has been ruled out of the remainder of England’s T20 series in New Zealand after sustaining an ankle injury. Kent batsman Denly suffered ligament damage to his right ankle during practice on Thursday and subsequently missed the opening match of the series on Friday, which England won by seven wickets. Further tests have now ruled the 33-year-old, who had found some form in the warm-up games, out of the rest of the series. England have decided against calling up a replacement for the time being. Right-hander Denly will remain in New Zealand as he begins a rehabilitation programme before the two-match Test series against the Black Caps, which begins at Mount Maunganui on November 21. The second T20 game takes place on Sunday in Wellington.
