Enzo Maresca praised his Chelsea players’ tenacity after they rallied from behind to draw 1-1 against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead from the penalty spot after Rasmus Hojlund was fouled by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but the lead lasted only a few minutes when Moises Caicedo volleyed in an equaliser from the edge of the box. Both teams squandered more chances to score in what was a very low-quality game, and at the end, a draw seemed like a fair outcome for both sides.
In his post-match press conference, Chelsea manager Maresca praised his players for dominating the midfield fight and their skills.Reported by Manchester world.
“I think we controlled the game quite well,” he told reporters. “We knew we’d give them some chances, especially on the counter-attack, given Rashford and Garnacho’s abilities. We knew that.

“We did the most difficult thing in this stadium against this team, which was to come back after they scored. Probably after the 1-1, since we sought to win, we exposed ourselves, which is why we allowed more in the last five or ten minutes. In Italy, we say, ‘When you can’t win, you can’t lose.'”
