On Sunday afternoon, they were defeated 6-3 by rivals Manchester City, with two of their consolation goals coming in the closing minutes at the Etihad Stadium.
With inconsistent results in the Europa League, the jury remains out on Ten Hag, and it appears that he feels the same way about his United team.
Erik ten Hag Doesn’t Want New Contracts Before The World Cup?
According to The Telegraph, the former Ajax manager does not want to be saddled with players that do not fit into his long-term plans.
Ten Hag is said to have requested that no new contracts be signed before the World Cup, which takes place at the end of 2022.
Ten Hag is believed to want to utilise that time to decide who should remain in the senior group beyond the 2022-23 season.

As of now, six players in his current squad have contracts that will expire at the end of the season.

At this point, David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Fred, Marcus Rashford, and Cristiano Ronaldo can all leave Old Trafford next summer, though the Red Devils have the option to extend the majority of their contracts for another year.
Most of the time, this is done to protect their valuations, although it has been widely reported that Ronaldo may leave the Theatre of Dreams in one of the next two transfer windows.
According to the report, Tom Heaton and Phil Jones, the third-choice goalkeeper and fringe centre-back, would also be considered.
However, it is believed that Axel Tuanzebe will be allowed to leave United for a reduced fee in January or on a free transfer later in the season.
