Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is worried that Donny van de Beek suffered a serious injury during Tuesday’s Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old made his second Premier League start of the season against the Cherries, but he had to be replaced late in the first half due to a challenge from Marcos Senesi.
The force of the challenge caused Van de Beek’s knee to bend backwards, and the Dutchman will now undergo a series of tests to determine the extent of the damage.
Following the 3-0 win over Bournemouth, Ten Hag stated that it was ‘too early’ to comment on the severity of the problem.
However, Man United’s manager has admitted that “it doesn’t look great” for the midfielder.
“No, that is too quick. We have to wait and then you can make the right diagnosis, so the medical team have to do their work. But it doesn’t look great,” Ten Hag told MUTV.
“What has happened to Donny is bad, in the first place, for Donny but also bad news for Manchester United, if it is a bad injury.”

Van de Beek has struggled to make an impact for the Red Devils this season, failing to score or assist in 10 appearances across all competitions.
Man United defeated Bournemouth 3-1 thanks to goals from Casemiro, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford, but Ten Hag urged his team to improve after the game.
Man United will look to make it seven straight wins in all competitions when they host Everton in the FA Cup on Friday night.
