Erik Ten Hag ‘Hit Out’ On Man United Star Over Disobedience

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag occasionally ‘ripped into’ the winger, when Antony defied him.

After working together at Ajax, Antony and Ten Hag were reunited when United paid about £86 million to sign him in 2022.

Nevertheless, Antony has only contributed 16 goals in 82 games, falling short of expectations thus far.

During two games last season, he also openly defied his boss, displaying a’mind blown’ expression when ordered to substitute at left-back during United’s thrilling 4-3 FA Cup victory against Liverpool.

Two months later, in the 1-0 loss to Arsenal, Antony again made the same motion in response to Ten Hag’s request to play there.

He “ripped into the Brazilian, telling him bluntly he had to play where he was told.”

Ten Hag’s remarks are believed to have had an impact on Antony, who ‘looked clearly shaken’.

The manager is reported to be ‘extremely displeased’ with the winger’s performances since joining the team, reports The Mirror

But in public, Ten Hag has stood up for Antony time and time again, declaring in February that the man is “unstoppable” when he plays his best. He told reporters, “I backed Antony for a long time.”

“I am aware of his exceptional skills and am aware that no defender can stop him due to his quickness in the first ten yards. He is an unstoppable threat.” I have no doubt that he will perform when he plays that game.

“He is a character, strong, and willing to fight back. I support him, therefore he must now wait for his opportunity and pick up when it presents itself.”
