Erik ten Hag Promises To Deal With Cristiano Ronaldo Tunnel Incident

Manchester United Boss Erik ten Hag has said he will “deal with” Cristiano Ronaldo after his early exit in Red Devils’ 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

After making his second Premier League start of the season against Newcastle United last weekend, Ronaldo was relegated to the bench on Wednesday night.

In his place, Marcus Rashford teamed up with Antony and Jadon Sancho, and Ten Hag’s side produced one of their best performances of the season to easily defeat Spurs.

Rashford had a disappointing evening, but Fred and Bruno Fernandes scored in the second half to give Manchester United a well-deserved three points at Old Trafford.

When asked if he spoke with Ronaldo in the tunnel, Ten Hag responded,  “He was there, I have seen him, but I didn’t speak with him.”

During his post-game press conference, the Dutchman maintained that he will address the issue on Thursday and wanted to focus on the “magnificent” performance of the players on the field.

“I don’t pay attention to that, I will deal with that tomorrow. I want to keep the focus on the team,” Ten Hag said. “It was magnificent from all 11 players. I have to correct myself. It was also a performance from the substitutes who came on.

“Once again, it was a squad performance. I think what we have seen is 11 players who defend and 11 who attack. I was pleased.”

This season, Ronaldo has only scored two goals and set up one more in 12 appearances across all competitions, starting all four Europa League games but just two in the Premier League.

Ten Hag’s team remains fifth in the Premier League league after defeating Tottenham.
