Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United and will continue to follow his individual training programme before he rejoins the main group.
Sancho missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s 2022 World Cup squad as well as the Red Devils’ winter training camp in Spain. According to Ten Hag, Sancho was not physically or mentally prepared to join the rest of the group.
During his individual programme, the 22-year-old spent time working with specialist coaches in the Netherlands and is said to have had regular appointments with Dutch sports psychologist Rainier Koers, who was brought to Old Trafford by Ten Hag.
Sancho has since returned to United’s Carrington training complex, and Ten Hag has given an update on his situation as the Red Devils prepare for their final Premier League match of 2022 on New Year’s Eve away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
When asked about Sancho during a pre-match press conference on Friday, Ten Hag said (via Dailymail), ‘He is back in Manchester and will start individual training.
‘Of course, the time is coming but the time is not now. He is making progress and we will see when he is ready to return to the squad.’

Sancho has struggled to live up to expectations at United and has only shown glimpses of his potential since joining from Borussia Dortmund for £75m in the summer of 2021.
The winger, who has been linked with a loan move in January, has appeared in 52 games for United in all competitions, including 39 starts, and has contributed eight goals and four assists.
