Erik Ten Hag Still Under Pressure To Get United Back On Track Ahead Of New Season

Former England player Michael Gray thinks Erik ten Hag may find himself under pressure to find a new position shortly If Manchester United doesn’t get off to a solid start in the new season.

During the Dutchman’s first two seasons in command, the Red Devils have won the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

But the previous season, they finished ninth in the Premier League and were only able to qualify for the Europa League because of their unexpected victory against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

United is gearing up to play City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday. This comes after a mixed preseason schedule in which they defeated Real Betis and Rangers but lost to Arsenal, Liverpool, and Rosenborg—the last of which was a crushing 3-0 loss.

Even after extending his contract in the summer, Ten Hag is still under a lot of pressure to help United get back on track.

Gray, who played professionally and earned three caps for England, is now talkSPORT’s Manchester football reporter.

Gray thinks that if the Dutchman’s early results don’t go well, things may go south very quickly.

Former Sunderland defender Gray warned that fingers would be pointed if Ten Hag didn’t get off to a quick start.

“We are aware of his pressure, the goings-on at Manchester United, and the significant change that has occurred, reports Caught Offside

“Man United supporters will be concerned if he doesn’t get off to that winning start in the first two or three games.”

Man Utd will play their Premier League openers against Fulham at home and Brighton away after the Community Shield, and then they will visit archrivals Liverpool at the beginning of September.
