Erik ten Hag To Receive £3m Bonus If Manchester United Qualify For Champions League

Erik ten Hag will reportedly earn a £3 million bonus if he can lead Manchester United back into the Champions League for the 2023-24 season.

Due to their sixth-place result in the previous campaign, the Red Devils will compete in the Europa League this year rather than the top club football league in Europe.

Ten Hag’s primary goal for the 2022-23 season is to secure a top-four slot in the Premier League standings, and The Sun reports that the Dutchman will receive a £3m bonus if he can lead the team back into the European Cup for the 2023-24 season.

The 52-year-old is reportedly paid £9 million year, which is just half of Pep Guardiola’s wage at Manchester City, but the contract also includes a lot of bonuses.

Man United would reportedly lose out on up to £90m in sponsorship deals, television revenue, prise money, and gate receipts if they failed to qualify for the Champions League for the upcoming season.

During this summer’s transfer window, Manchester United added three new players: Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez.

The club is still interested in signing Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Ajax’s Antony, while a new goalkeeper is expected to join following Dean Henderson’s loan transfer to Nottingham Forest.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain, with the Portugal star reportedly attempting to leave the 20-time English champions before the market closes.

Man United will then kick off their 2022-23 Premier League season at home against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7, with Ronaldo’s participation still unknown.
