Erik Ten Hag ‘Will Be Sacked’ If Manchester United Lose To Southampton

Manchester United will have no choice but to fire Erik ten Hag if they lose to Southampton on Saturday, according to Louis Saha.

Ten Hag was given a new contract after winning the FA Cup last season, despite supervising one of the worst Premier League seasons in the club’s history.

The new season began in much the same way, with United scraping a 1-0 win against Fulham in the first game before being defeated by Brighton and humiliated at home by Liverpool before the international break.

United return to Premier League action against Southampton, who have lost all three of their top-flight games this season, and former striker Saha believes Ten Hag’s position would be untenable if he could not orchestrate a victory on the south coast.

If Southampton dominates as Liverpool did, Ten Hag’s situation will be untenable.

When asked if Ten Hag may be fired following the defeat at Southampton, Saha told Betfred: “I believe so. The issue against Liverpool was the performance rather than the result, therefore Erik is under pressure because the team is not playing well.

“There were no indications during the game that anything was going to be fixed. If Southampton can dominate Manchester United on Saturday in the same way that Liverpool did last week, Erik ten Hag’s situation will be untenable.

“You need to find different ways to beat the best teams, which is something that every manager must do, but your philosophy must always be based on a foundation that the players can truly understand, know what the manager is asking of them, and know what their needs are during the game.

“There are many pundits, media members, and fans who are witnessing things they don’t comprehend when they watch Manchester United right now.

“We saw Arne Slot and Liverpool smash Erik ten Hag’s tactics in their last match. At the moment, it’s not about personalities; it’s about seeing a plan that the gamers can relate to and employ to create damage.

“Sometimes we see guys playing as individuals or not responding correctly, but the current issue is with the game strategy. We are currently unable to define a clear game strategy, which is why Erik is being criticized. Things need to be improved.
