The goals of Man City’s striker, Erling Haaland, were a major reason for the club’s remarkable treble-winning season in 2022/23.
Back when he was playing for Molde, the Norwegian just couldn’t stop scoring, and it’s no surprise that he’s wanted by clubs like Real Madrid.
The Spanish league powers were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, but that would be unlikely to deter them if the goal machine were available again shortly.
However, that’s unlikely to happen, denying Los Blancos for a second time.
That’s because, according to The Telegraph (subscription required), Manchester City is attempting to bind Haaland to a new contract.
For any team hoping to put together a package to sweeten any deal, this is news that will undoubtedly disappoint, yet they cannot be surprised.
Goals are Haaland’s bread and butter, but he wouldn’t score half as many without the skill and accuracy of his teammates, the majority of whom are best-in-class in their respective positions.
There’s a reason City is the reigning treble champions and are presently setting the pace in the Premier League, and as much as Haaland is a big part of it, so are Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and others.
