Juventus are reportedly willing to let Emre Can leave in January, alerting several top clubs including Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Things have not worked out for Can since he joined the Serie A champions on a free transfer from Liverpool in the summer of 2018 and he is growing increasingly frustrated with a lack of regular first-team action after surprisingly being left out of the club’s Champions League squad this season.
Initially, under former boss Massimiliano Allegri, the midfielder was a key player and he made 37 appearances in all competitions last season but, following the appointment of Maurizio Sarri in the summer, the 25-year-old has slipped down the pecking order.
The Germany international has started just one Serie A game this term, making a further three substitute appearances and has been heavily linked with a move away when the transfer window reopens in January.
United are interested and do not appear to be put off by the fact signing a former Liverpool player will probably not be straightforward, as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks for solid Premier League experience to bolster his midfield.
Can made 167 league appearances for the Reds between 2014 and 2018 and was a reliable performer in Jurgen Klopp’s side before moving to Italy.
Reports suggest Juve are ready to listen to offers for Can, who is under contract in Turin until summer 2022, and United are expected to lead the chase for his signature, although Bayern and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also in the hunt for the £30million-rated man.
A return to England may suit but he might also fancy heading back to Germany to rejoin his boyhood club Bayern, where he came through the ranks at before moving on to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 after playing just seven senior games.
