Everton are expecting a second bid from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite as the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline approaches.
United are still very much interested in making a summer transfer for the 21-year-old. But the two teams now have very different opinions on how much the player is worth.
Everton turned down a first bid that was reportedly valued at £35 million plus an additional £8 million for the youngster. The Merseyside outfit believe the centre-back is worth about twice that much and considers him to be a crucial component.
Everton insiders have stated that they plan to keep Branthwaite this summer and would only consider selling him if they received a “mega offer,” as the report revealed last week.
They reportedly value him at more than £70 million. Prior agreements including Josko Gvardiol, Wesley Fofana, and Harry Maguire are used to support this estimate.
If anything, there’s a case to be made for Branthwaite’s higher value than those three because of his experience, nationality, and left-footedness—he can also play on the right.
According to the Liverpool Echo as reported by Manchester World, Everton are now resolved not to allow themselves to be coerced into a deal, and their negotiating position has been reinforced by recent events.
According to the article, Everton’s situation regarding the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Regulations is still uncertain.
