EVERTON NOW WANT TO SIGN RED-HOT STRIKER ARSENAL SOLD FOR JUST £2M

Everton are interested in Ajax forward Chuba Akpom, who only moved to the Netherlands a few months ago.

Chuba Akpom, a former Arsenal striker, could make a comeback to English football, with Everton showing interest.

According to TEAMtalk, Akpom is garnering a lot of attention ahead of the January transfer window.

Akpom rose through the Arsenal levels but only made four league appearances for the club.

In 2018, Akpom was moved to Greek club PAOK for just £2 million, where he scored 14 goals in 54 league games to earn a return to England with Middlesbrough.

The 28-year-old scored just five goals in his first season at Boro and was loaned out to PAOK after failing to make an impact on Teesside.

Last season, however, Akpom turned things around, scoring 28 goals in 40 games under Michael Carrick to win a £12 million move to Ajax.

Everton is interested in acquiring Chuba Akpom

Akpom persevered a slow start to life in Amsterdam but has now scored five times in his last four games, beginning to make a big impact at Ajax.

Now in red-hot form, Akpom is suddenly attracting Premier League interest.

TEAMtalk suggest that Everton are interested in signing Akpom, alongside the promoted trio of Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United.

London clubs Crystal Palace and Fulham also want Akpom, with a January loan deal suggested as a real possibility.

Ajax letting Akpom leave on loan would be a little strange given his form at the moment but a return to England – and a Premier League chance – could appeal to the striker.

Everton invested in Beto and Youssef Chermiti over the summer but still need more goals in order to stay up.

Akpom could be one solution for Everton, especially as he excelled as a number 10 for Middlesbrough last season and could be versatile attacking weapon for Sean Dyche.
