Leighton Baines, the head coach of the under-18 squad, and Seamus Coleman, the club captain, will temporarily take over first-team duties while Everton’s backroom staff departs.

“Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as senior men’s first team manager with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement on Thursday.

“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the club. The process to appoint a new Manager is underway and an update will be provided in due course.”

In December, the Friedkin Group acquired Everton, and Dyche had stated that he had their backing.

However, after 19 games, Everton is one point above the relegation zone in 16th place in the rankings.

Since defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers in early December, they have lost five straight games, reports The West.

Under Dyche, they had only triumphed once in their previous 11 league games.

After nearly ten years as Burnley’s manager from October 2012 to April 2022, Dyche took over at Everton in January 2023.

By barely two points at the end of the 2022–2023 season, the Toffees avoided relegation.
