James Tarkowski, an Everton defender, ripped against his teammates after calling Monday night’s humiliating 6-0 loss to Chelsea the “most embarrassing” event in his career.
The 31-year-old center back, who has been a constant for the Toffees this season, was a part of the defense that Cole Palmer destroyed at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues attacker racking up an incredible four goals.
Alfie Gilchrist and Nicolas Jackson also joined in, condemning Everton to their worst loss of the season. In a harsh post-match interview, Tarkowski did not hold back, stating unequivocally that his teammates ought to be embarrassed by their lackluster performance in the nation’s capital.

The former Burnley defender was asked to sum up his emotions following the crushing, and he answered straight to Sky Sports: “[We] underperformed, the most embarrassed I have felt as an individual.”
“It shows where we are at today, we can only apologise to the fans who supported us. No excuses on our behalf we need to brush ourselves down as we have a big few weeks coming up.
“We conceded six goals and you should feel embarrassed. [It’s] nothing to do with technical aspects, people getting beat and run off and it is hard to summarise it.
“I have had dark times here but the fans stick by us in the next game so hopefully they’ll be there for us again.”
Everton was positioned at the bottom of the Premier League table going into and during the evening. Sean Dyche’s team’s goal differential has now significantly dropped, and they are only two points above the relegation zone.
