Patrice Evra has commented on the rumours linking Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United, claiming the Swede’s “big ego” will help him thrive at Old Trafford.
Ibrahimovic is currently away with the Sweden national side at Euro 2016 but is widely expected to sign for the Red Devils after the tournament, with his contract with Paris Saint-Germain set to expire at the end of this month.
The 34-year-old has reportedly purchased a house in the Manchester area and it seems that we are now just waiting confirmation on a move which will see him reunite with former Inter Milan boss, Jose Mourinho.
And with the move edging closer, former United favourite Evra has offered his view on the subject. The France left-back won five Premier League titles and a Champions League for the side, who he captained on numerous occasions, and is of the belief that Ibrahimovic will fit in perfectly should he make the move.
“Manchester United need great personalities”, the Juventus left-back told TF1. “At the club, you have to have a big ego, so in normal circumstances it should work for him.”
Ibrahimovic, who earns £250,000-a-week at PSG, will kick off his Euro 2016 endeavours on Monday against the Republic of Ireland at the Stade de France and heads into the tournament in fine form. He enjoyed the best scoring spree of his career in 2015/16, netting 38 times in La Liga with Luis Suarez (40) the only man across Europe’s top five leagues to outscore him.
Mourinho made Villarreal defender Eric Bailly his first signing as manager last week and if Ibrahimovic follows suit, Evra reckons it would be a good transfer for United.
