Ex Chelsea Boss Rules Out Taking Rangers Vacant Managerial Position

Former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter is reportedly not interested in becoming the head coach of Scottish side, Rangers.

The Ibrox club sacked Michael Beale yesterday after their defeat against Aberdeen on Saturday which has left them seven points adrift of league leaders Celtic.

The interim management group will be led by Ibrox hero, Steven Davis and feature former midfielder Alex Rae, current coach Steven Smith, coach Brian Gilmour, and goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart.

The oddsmakers began taking bets on who would become Rangers’ next permanent manager. And Graham Potter, a former Chelsea and Brighton boss was one of the favorites.

The Glasgow Times has now reported that Potter is not thrilled about the position. After Beale left Ibrox, Kevin Muscat is currently the front-runner for the job.

Muscat, who has previously been linked to the position, is currently the favorite at 10/3. The 50-year-old is currently in charge of Ange Postecoglou’s old side, Yokohama F. Marinos.

The top five is made up of Kjetil Knuntsen, Jesse Marsch, Ralph Hassenhuttl, and Potter, who is in at 5/1.

Gennaro Gattuso, Scott Parker, Steven Gerrard, and Ruud van Nistelrooy are also on the extensive list.

Potter is currently unemployed since he was axed by Chelsea in April following dismal results at Stamford Bridge.

The 48-year-old spent just seven months at the helm out of the five-year deal he signed with the west London club.

The Englishman oversaw 31 games at the club. Just 12 of those ended in victory, 8 ended in draws and lost 11, with a win rate of 38.7 per cent which is the worst among all Chelsea’s permanent managers in the Premier League era.
